Large-scale projection mapping on the Dom tower in Utrecht — outdoor projection design, geometry, content sync and weatherised hardware.
The Domtoren is the tallest church tower in the Netherlands and the symbol of our home city. Projection-mapping it is a public event at civic scale: thousands of people watching, one of the most recognisable buildings in the country as the canvas, and zero tolerance for a black screen.
We designed the projection geometry to the tower’s real surface, sized brightness to overpower ambient city light, and weatherised every part of the system against a Dutch autumn night. Content was locked to the structure so the mapping sat precisely on the architecture, and the whole rig was built with the redundancy a one-shot public event demands.
